The Freedom Film Society held it's first screening in December of 2000 and has been bringing independent film and media to suburban New Jersey ever since. Our programming hails from around the world as well as our own Garden State. Our films are selected by a programming committee that both curates and accepts submissions from independent filmmakers. All genres of film appear at our events including short and feature length narratives, animations, experimental film, and documentaries. Subject matter varies widely from screening to screening as our staff strives to program events that are fresh and relevant. It may be funny, it may be political, it may be inspiring, it may disturbing, but it will definitely be worth watching.

Events are held at several venues of various sizes throughout the area including the Count Basie Theatre, Clearview Cinemas, Pheonix Productions and several others. Most screenings are local to Red Bank, but FFS has also held events in Long Branch and Asbury Park. FFS's main annual event is the Red Bank International Film Festival, which boasts three days of screenings, filmmaker appearances, parties, and awards. Tickets for most events are available at the door and prices vary between $5-$10.
