The Freedom Film Society presents:
Nosferatu
Back in October of 2001 the Freedom Film Society, presenters of the annual Red Bank International Film Festival, joined forces with local artists Rotting Moldy Flesh for a presentation of the 1922 classic silent film "Nosferatu".
The premise of the evening was clear for the Film Society: Present a Halloween event for the tri-city area that would consist of a classic horror film with an original, live and totally unique soundtrack that could only be created and performed by Rotting Moldy Flesh.
The screening was an instant success, selling out faster than any other single event in Film Society history. Theatre 1 of Clearview Cinemas on White Street in Red Bank was never quite the same.
For years the legend of "Nosferatu" has haunted both the Film Society and the members of Rotting Moldy Flesh. The calls for repeating the "Nosferatu" screening have long been heard -- and now finally, seven years after the original legendary performance, the call will be answered.
This is likely the last time that "Nosferatu" will be screened in this format, so if you missed out on the experience back in 2001, this is your chance.

ABOUT THE FILM::
Nosferatu, directed by the German Expressionist Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, stars Max Schreck as the vampire Count Orlok. The film, made in 1921 and released in 1922, was an unauthorised adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, but with names and other details changed because the studio could not obtain the rights to the novel from the Stoker Estate.
The film tells the story of Real Estate Agent Thomas Hutter who is summoned to the castle of Count Orlok, located deep within the Carpathian Mountains.
It is soon revealed that Count Orlok is in fact a vampire who threatens to destory both Thomas Hutter and his loving wife, Ellen.
Nosferatu was an atypical expressionist film shot on location in the
Carpathian Mountains. Murnau infused the story with the
subtle tones of nature: both pure and fresh as well as
twisted and sinister.
